The National Strategy Review Center (PPSN) in collaboration with the Lemhannas Alumni Family Association (IKAL) organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Choosing a Nation Leader Through the Arrangement of the Electoral System”.

FGD event was held at the office of PPSN, Jalan Patra Kuningan VII, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday (20/3).

Chairman of the Board of Trustees PPSN Widodo AS said the implementation is a form of support PPSN and IKAL who want to contribute to the preparation of the Election Law currently being discussed by the Parliament and the government.

“We want to contribute to the drafting of this bill, and the results of this FGD will be given to interested parties,” said Widodo AS.

According Widodo, so far, experience proves that the discussion of the Bill of Elections would take a long time. Therefore, the House and the government need the considerations and opinions of the people to improve the system of elections.

Moreover, he added, in the 2019 election later, the first simultaneous general elections in Indonesia in accordance with the mandate of the Constitutional Court (MK). In the election there are several crucial issues that are being discussed, namely the threshold of parliament and the threshold for presidential candidacy, as well as open or closed electoral system.

This, said Widodo, can not be DPR and the government alone who thinks of themselves, would need a lot of input from the public for the arrangement of the electoral system the better.
